The Bitterroot River lies in one of the most beautiful valleys that has ever existed. Surrounded on all sides by the Bitterroot National Forest and it's abundant wildlife, the landscape that envelopes the Bitterroot River in its entirety is truly magnificent.
Beginning where the east and west forks converge near the town of Conner, the Bitterroot offers exquisite scenery and photo oportunities for floaters the entire length of its gorgeous course through the valley. The Sapphire mountains rise to the east while the Bitterroot mountains are found to the west.
The Valley itself is lush by Montana standards, and is also located in a sort of banana belt. Unlike many of the rivers located in Montana that flow through isolated and remote country, the Bitterroot Valley is fairly well-developed, and also compromises the fastest growing region of Montana. On it's banks are the wonderful small town of Darby, and the city of Hamilton making services and other amenities are easy to find. |
